- "En un país donde parece que estamos todos obligados (por el grupo Prisa y su Cuatro) a comulgar con ruedas de molino y gritar a los cuatro vientos que "¡¡¡¡¡Po-de-mooos!!!!", pues bien yo creo que NO PODREMOS contra Italia, ni podremos ganar la Eurocopa (caso de pasar). Pienso que Italia volverá a ser demasiada Italia (aunque no jueguen Pirlo ni Gatusso). Me hallo entre los pesimistas o más bien entre los "escaldados" de oir gilipolleces sobre la selección española (en los periodistas) desde que viera mi primer mundial en el año 82. Osea que... aún a riesgo de que se diga que no se de fútbol o que soy muy pesimista, creo que la tetracampeona nos mojará la oreja.
Podemos tener la fe que nos de la gana, la moral del Alcoyano y creer "ciegamente" en esta selección, es un ejercicio que se lleva haciendo muchos años pero yo todavía no he visto a España ganar un partido de alta competición jugándonos los bigotes para acceder a unas semis. Contra Italia, contra Yugoslavia, Bélgica, Portugal , Francia, Alemania... hemos palmado en cruces con casi todos. Hasta fuimos incapaces de pasar a cuchillo a los coreanos y golearles y al final nos pasaron ellos a cuchillo con los robos arbitrales.
No creo que esta "generación" de jugones (me da la risa) tenga más "ganas" o más fe que las anteriores ni que se pueda ganar una Eurocopa sólo con mediocampistas técnicos. Todos querrán ganar el campeonato por afición, por subir su caché, por pasar a la historia pero... por muchas ganas y cojones que le pongan yo creo que hay selecciones mejores y más experimentadas que la nuestra. E Italia es una de ellas, 88 años de fracasos contra ellos lo acreditan".

Supongo que al final veré el partido, pero estoy pensándome muy seriamente si no me merecería más la pena irme por ahí de fin de semana, a algún sitio en el que no haya ni móviles, ni internet, ni televisión, ni radio... Fue bonito mientras duró. Disfrutemos del partido de mañana contra Grecia, porque el domingo se habrá acabado la historia en la Eurocopa 2008".
